When Victor and Octavia’s passion ignites, the curse only grows stronger and beyond Octavia’s control. And when Ciprian, the oldest vampire on Earth, discovers Octavia’s secret, he’ll stop at nothing to destroy her… and Victor.

Branded a traitor, Victor must escape America with Octavia so he can save her. But it comes with a price. Because keeping Octavia safe means reviving Victor’s dark past – the one that gave him the long-forgotten title of Barbarian.

Review of ‘Born Of Sin’

Wow. This was QUITE the ride! You definitely need to read the first book in the series before starting on book two, as this is not a stand alone romance. The excitement between Victor and Octavia piles and piles up into a tangled web of intrigue. I was drawn immediately by the first chapter. What made this book run smoothly was Richmond’s character detail and depth. She did not disappoint in creating a wild world of vampires and the paranormal. I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy of the first book, in order to truly appreciate the romance and adventure of the second!

AuthorPhoto.jpgAbout the Author

Lynn Turner inherited her writing gene from her mother, who created fantastic tales about witches, invisible worlds and talking animals, and read them to her children at night. Lynn isn’t as great with the voices as her mother, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

She discovered romance far too young, when a mission to find a young adult fantasy title led her to historical romance. She spent hours skimming those sumptuous pages, drinking in the vivid descriptions of settings and clothes, feisty heroines and looming lords, and poetic language. (She may or may not have enjoyed the PG-13 bits too, tucking a new title beneath her pillow at night).

She enjoys character-driven narratives most, and anything that transports her someplace else. Passionate about food and travel, she features healthy doses of both in the stories she crafts. Above all, she is dedicated to writing inclusive stories that explore what it means to be imperfectly human.

When she isn’t writing, she’s traveling, dreaming of traveling, or watching old Samantha Brown travelogue videos and wishing she had her job. She and her husband share their home in California with their two extraordinary children, and hope to add a floppy kitty to the family very soon.

An Excerpt:

All the emotions from that night washed over him and the onslaught churned his stomach. “It was the same for me. But at the same time, I wanted to get far the hell away from you.” He watched her face for any sign of hurt, but to his relief, she just nodded.

“I know.” She frowned. “It was so strange. Almost made me sick.”

He drew in a sharp breath, noticing her stiffen in response.

“What?” she asked.

“That’s exactly how it was for me. It’s how I’m feeling right now.”

She nodded again. “We were both a little off. But your pitch was one of the more memorable ones I’ve had.”

“Don’t remind me. I don’t think I’ve ever botched it like that before.”

“Excuse me?” She smacked his chest. “Maybe I should rescind that offer.”

He chuckled. He knew she was wide open, and he wanted her to trust him. It was his turn to be exposed. He tapped his leg. “This is the best one I’ve had so far, except I can’t deep sea dive with it.”

She reached for his hand. “How many do you have?”

“Just one. But I’m waiting for the military to finish developing those bionic legs so I can lift cars with my foot.”

Her slim fingers traced his bigger ones. “You don’t have to do that, you know. Self-deprecate. You’ve already seen me naked.”

His eyes raked over her, his pulse jumping at her words. “You have no idea how much I’d like to see that again,” he said, sensing her shiver. “But first I want you to see me too. The real me.” He looked down at their hands. “Only if you’re comfortable.”

“I want to see. I just didn’t know how to ask. Or if I should ask.” She smiled. “I didn’t want to offend you.”

“You haven’t asked me to spank you with it, so this is already an improvement from my last date.”

Emanuela gasped. “No…”

He laughed at her horrified expression. “’Fraid so.” He gently removed her legs from his lap and stood in front of her. “And that was an improvement from the date before that.”

“Oh my God.” She snickered. “That’s awful.”

“Well, some kinky stuff is fun.”

“Ugh.” She narrowed her eyes. “Just drop your pants already!”

He grinned and turned away to do just that, bending to tug them off before coming back to sit beside her. Without further ceremony, he pushed on the front of the leg and a tiny motor whirred. “It’s vacuum sealed,” he said. “The button is hidden beneath this sleeve.”

He pulled down the flesh-colored skin covering his knee and the prosthetic leg. Then, he removed the prosthesis and propped it against the end table, glancing at Emanuela.

“What’s that?” she asked.

“It’s a sock. Just makes it more comfortable. Tighter fit.”

“How does it feel to take it off? Is it like taking your shoes off at the end of the day?”

“Wow.” He smiled wide. “That’s not half bad… It’s more like taking off a snug pair of jeans. Just by the way it feels.”

She nodded and he removed the sock, then peeled off the liner to leave his stump bare.

He watched her a moment, letting her take it in. Her eyes widened. Much of his leg was intact, halfway to his shin. It was smooth and conical, with a long pink scar at the tip of the stump.

“Some assembly required,” he said.

She made a sound that was half-gasp, half-laugh. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. I was shocked the first time I saw it too.”

Her lips parted and closed again, darkness clouding her eyes. Finn could read everything in her face, and he silently agreed with the conflict he saw there. Part of him wanted to share the details about what happened, but another part of him wanted to preserve a moment that was new and exciting and full of promise. Another time. If she gives me a chance.

When food editor Susanna Morgan returns to Parnell, Florida to oversee the sale of her childhood home and cover the annual Pomelo Festival for her magazine, she vows not to remain one minute longer than necessary. She doesn’t anticipate her attraction to the local pastor, a return of the faith she thought she’d lost, or the phone calls from her long dead sister.

Former pastor Grant Landon has enough on his plate – his mother’s increasing dementia, his ex-wife’s abandonment and remarriage, and his teenage daughter’s unbridled tongue – without adding his attraction to Susanna Morgan.

When a series of anonymous phone calls and sinister pranks makes it clear that someone is intent on opening old wounds and creating new ones, Susanna and Grant set out to unearth long-buried secrets and heal hurts that are decades old.

Can the faith they share bind them together, even as the past threatens to tear them apart?

Genre: Lesbian romance

Sierra Cody is on fire. A rising star in women’s professional downhill mountain bike racing, she has all the tools to become a world champion. All she needs to do is fully commit herself. Something far easier said than done. As stubborn as she is independent, Sierra has always carved her own path, refusing to fall in line with the controlling, commercialized aspects of the sport. Her trademark no-holds-barred, reckless style of riding has earned her as many cheers as it has jeers.

Dr. Kara Davies, a highly regarded and accomplished physician, is well on her way to achieving her dreams in chiropractic research. Commitment to her goals has never been an issue, but her personal life is a different story. Preferring the comfort and safety of her lab over personal relationships, Kara’s one-track mind allows no deviation.

But life is full of twists and turns.

After an accident on the track lands Sierra in Kara’s on-site medical center, the doctor suddenly finds she has more on her mind that work. Blindsided by mutual attraction, Sierra and Kara struggle to accept their feelings for each other and to deal with the change it brings.

Will love be enough? Or will life’s little switchbacks send them both careening off course?

Her love of the mountains, westerns and stories involving strong female characters were the driving forces behind her first two stories. EXCERPT From “Switchback”…

Sierra’s ex, the dirty blonde spitfire named Harley, waved them both over.

On many a night, Sierra would’ve accepted the offer, but tonight she preferred to continue her pursuit of the doctor who had already turned down several drink offers. That was one of the reasons she had to do this right. Another reason was that the doctor deserved better than some ridiculous, overused pick-up line. A plan took shape in her mind. Now, all she had to do was figure out how to get her alone so she could make her move.

As soon as the question was posed, an answer presented itself. The doctor excused herself from the table and headed toward the ladies room. Sierra was quick on her feet, searching out a willing accomplice to help get her foot in the door. After a stop at the bar for two bottles of beer, she approached one of the male rookies on the tour, Rob. He was handsome, with dusty blonde hair and crisp blue eyes and had enough of a buzz going to agree to a favor for a free beer. When the doctor returned, Sierra pointed her out and Rob set out to intercept his target.

Anticipation bubbled in Sierra’s chest. “Perfect,” she whispered as she followed a few feet behind him, but was careful to remain hidden.

Thanks to the crowd, the doctor was held up at the far end of the bar. Rob approached from behind and when she was forced to stop, he leaned in and said, “Excuse me. I’m Mr. Right. Someone said you were looking for me.”

Not again. Kara rolled her eyes and took a deep breath. Never one to be rude, she had a polite turn down on the tip of her tongue as she faked a smile and spun around.

“Thank you but…Sierra?” Startled to find the object of her infatuation rather than a mystery man, she quickly glanced right and left in confusion. “I didn’t expect to see you there. I mean…there was just a guy…”

Sierra smiled seductively and took a step closer. In a husky tone, she replied, “Yeah well, I told him if anyone was buying the smoking hot doctor a drink tonight it was me. I hope that was all right.” She looked down and picked at the label on her bottle before meeting Kara’s shell-shocked stare once again. “But…” She shrugged. “If he’s more your type, then I can get him right back here.”

Long, dark lashes framed Sierra’s light amber eyes which shimmered like gold. The touch of black eyeliner accented them to perfection. Mesmerized by the way they sparkled back at her, Kara stood speechless, motionless, frozen in an imaginary tractor beam that kept pulling her closer to the other woman until Sierra’s warm breath tiptoed across her skin. Goosebumps blazed a trail from her collar bone to her scalp. A shiver swept over her. Unable to form words, Kara finally gathered the strength to look away, dipping her head and blushing furiously. Sierra Cody had the power to render her speechless and it was unsettling.

With the stunning woman out of her field of vision, Kara’s short-circuited nerve endings began to fire anew, allowing her to put syllables together in a coherent manner. “That won’t be necessary, but thank you,” she said with a shy smile. She was no stranger to being on the receiving end of flirtation—which she always declined with ease—but with little to no effort, Sierra had managed to put everyone else she had ever encountered to shame. Saying no to her was about as easy as fighting gravity.
