Emily wakes up in an unknown place without any memory of how she got there. She was supposed to be on her way to a retreat for two weeks after her boss declares she needs it with her latest flare-ups at work. She forces herself to take the time away from her stressful life in spite of the objection from her friends. The last thing she remembers is being at her high school reunion, and the pain that grips her heart when the guy who broke her heart ten years ago shows up looking annoyingly tempting.

Evan didn’t expect her to almost claw his face off at the reunion, but he was surprised at the way Emily reacts to his presence. He asks himself if he cared enough about his high school sweetheart to find out why she had turned into an angry person.

Follow Emily’s journey as she follows her heart to find the person she wants to be held captive by… forever.

Review of Hold Me Captive

The story is filled with a variety of characters, all of which made me laugh out loud and gasp over their behavior–which is a good thing, in my reading life. Emily is a workaholic, to put it mildly. She’s off to a meditation retreat, or more like forced into one…

But before she can go, she offers to help her friend work their high school reunion. In walks Evan, her long-lost love from high school, here to get her back. He takes her away from it all, quite literally too, since she gets drugged and the next thing she remembers is waking up inside his car. Evan is there to make amends for his past, and also helping her to work out who would want to harm her and the ones she’s loved.

It seems that Emily is her own worst enemy, and everyone can see this but her. P.G. Van leaves the reader turning the pages quicker and quicker, at times just to see if Emily has come to her senses yet. The love story flickers from anger and bitterness, but soon a fire grows within each of them. Finally, that fire turns into more than just passion, but a hope for the future between the two. But first, the two need to figure out who is behind the life-threatening attacks on Emily. In the end, Evan plays the hero role like a trained champ, making ‘Hold Me Captive Forever’ one that I’ll treasure forever.
